RENO, NV - There is a wind advisory and a red flag warning in western Nevada today as a storm moves in.
Most of the wet weather will stay in the Sierra. However the wind will be strong enough to force some wind blown rain showers into the Truckee Meadows. Further east little rain will fall. The rain actually works as a physical blockade to the wind. Locations like Fernley, Fallon and Lovelock will see little to no wet weather this afternoon so the wind will be stronger. Blowing dust is also a concern.
There is also high fire danger today. Most of the lighting strikes will be in the Sierra where there is a good amount of moisture. But if a fire were to start in the drier areas, wind would make it very difficult to battle.
