RENO, Nev. (AP) - A Wadsworth man is behind bars after authorities say he assaulted his girlfriend while they were driving along Interstate 80 near Reno.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reports 23-year-old Alex Rivers was arrested Sunday morning and booked into the Washoe County Jail on charges of attempted murder, domestic battery and assault.
The Washoe County sheriff's office says Rivers allegedly strangled his girlfriend while she was driving a 1982 Ford sedan on I-80 near USA Parkway. The car stalled and Rivers stopped the attack.
Investigators say the woman turned the car around to head back toward Reno when the car stalled again. Authorities say Rivers was
physically aggressive toward the woman until a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper arrived on the scene.
A sheriff's deputy was called and Rivers was arrested.
