A man was shot in the back right across the street from the Sheriff's Substation in Fernley on Sunday morning.
The Lyon County Sheriff's Department hasn't officially released details, but I spoke to a Sergent who was willing to release preliminary information about it.
They initially got the call between 2 and 3 AM on Sunday. It was that a person was down on Main Street in Fernley, right across the street from the substation.
When deputies arrived they discovered one person shot in the middle of the lower back, possibly with a small caliber weapon. The circumstances of the shooting are not known and the victim was not very cooperative initially.
The victims name has not been released, but he is approximately 20 to 25 years old, was transported to Renown, underwent surgery and is recovering.
At last word, no suspects are in custody. However investigators have made some progress and are looking into the possibility of executing a search warrant in connection with the shooting.
No official statement has been released by the department. However, a detective on this investigation has been alterted that the public is raising questions about the shooting. That detective is working to verify the facts of the investigation and an official statement is expected soon.
