RENO, NV - Reno police have arrested the man they believe shot and killed a friend last July in downtown Reno.

Matthew Mahaffey is charged with Murder With a Deadly Weapon after a lengthy investigation in the shooting that happened at W. 2nd St. and Evans Avenue early in the morning of July 3rd. Once the warrant was issued, Mahaffey was arrested at his lawyer's office and is being held without bail.

Police believe Mahaffey was waiting for Michael Boyle to pick him up near Aces Ballpark. Police say Boyle somehow startled Mahaffey, who killed him with one gunshot. They have not released more specific information about a possible motive.
