YERINGTON, NV - A man was sentenced to life in prison for his role in leading a drug trafficking organization which spanned multiple counties in Northern Nevada, according to an official with the Lyon County District Attorney.
Phillip Sharpe was sentenced on Monday, October 14, 2013 in the Third Judicial District Court in Yerington, Nevada, according to an official with the Lyon County DA.
Lyon County DA officials say Sharpe was sentenced on the charge of Level III Trafficking in a Controlled Substance and was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after a minimum of 10 years served and a $50,000 fine.
The Tri-NET Narcotics Task Force, comprised of officers from the Lyon County Sheriff’s Department, Douglas County Sheriff’s Department, Carson City Sheriff’s Department, Reno Drug Enforcement Administration and Nevada National Guard’s – Counter Drug Operations conducted an investigation regarding Sharpe, according to Lyon County DA officials.
Officials say the investigation showed Sharpe to be the head of a multi-national Drug Trafficking Organization with direction connections to Mexico that distributed controlled substances across northwest Nevada including Dayton, Silver Springs, Carson City, Virginia City and Fallon.
Sharpe was arrested and charged with Trafficking Level III for his possession of 3 pounds 5 ounces of methamphetamine on Highway 50 in Dayton, Nevada, according to an official with the Lyon County DA.
