SPARKS, NV - Sparks police are looking for the person behind the wheel of a silver Volkswagen Jetta who hit a pedestrian.
Investigators were initially called at 8:42 Friday evening to Prater Way at Interstate 80.
Police say the victim, 34-year-old Brant Polke, stumbled into the roadway at the intersection's crosswalk. Polke fell onto the asphalt in an adjoining lane. Eastbound drivers did come to a stop for Polke, but another vehicle approached and ran over him without slowing or stopping.
Police say witnesses describe the vehicle as a newer model silver or grey four-door Volkswagen Jetta.
Officers suspect Polke had been drinking. Polke was transported to Renown Medical Center to be treated for what police say are non-life-threatening injuries.
Sparks police ask anyone with information to call 353-2231 or Secret Witness at 322-4900.
