SPARKS, NV - A Code Yellow lockdown has been lifted at Sparks High School and Mitchell Elementary. Both were on the precautionary lockdown because of police activity in the area.
Sparks police were looking for the suspect in a case they're investigating, but the case does not involve the schools.
Friday's search was not a standoff, but police believed the man was in an area apartment. That turned out not to be the case, but the man is not considered armed and dangerous.
Police did make an arrest but it was the man that prompted the lockdown.
Sparks PD, SWAT, Nevada Highway Patrol all responded.
Residents were told that if they left the area, they might not be allowed back in. But it's all over now.
The police activity was in the area of Oddie, Prater and McCarran.
