RENO, NV - In terms of health and wellness, Washoe County is doing pretty well, but still has room for improvement.
Those are the findings of the latest research by Truckee Meadows Tomorrow, a local group that measures the quality of life.
Thursday, the group honored three local organizations for their work to make our community better, including Harrah's, Join Together Nevada, and UNR's Student Outreach Clinic.
They say we have to know where we are, in order to know where we want to be.
"Data should drive our programs, our budgets, our community decisions that we make, to ensure that the Truckee Meadows and Washoe County continues to be a place that we want to live, and that the quality of life is something that is what we want," said Amber Martin-Jahn, President of Truckee Meadows Tomorrow.
The group says we still need to work on having a more walk-able community, preventing underage drinking, and creating alternative activities so people don't engage in risky behavior.
