Local Record Store Celebrates National Record Store Day

This is the one day that all of the independently owned record stores come together with artists to celebrate the art of music and the music store experience. Special vinyl and CD releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day. Metallica officially kicked off Record Store Day at Rasputin Music in San Francisco on April 19, 2008 and Record Store Day is now celebrated the third Saturday every April.

This will be Recycled Records' 3rd year participating in it, and their first since moving to Reno's Midtown District late last year. Recycled Records is also celebrating it's 35th year in business in Reno, and will celebrate the day with live music most of the day with local artists Max Volume, the Kanes, Last To Leave, and more. Besides the special RSD releases which mark the day, Recycled Records will release it's own special T Shirts and tote bags featuring art from when the store first opened. This is our busiest day of the year and a great opportunity to mix with all of the other people out there who enjoy their music and movies as physical media, not mp3's. With record sales driven up by a resurgence in vinyl, both for older AND younger listeners, it's a human interest story that all might enjoy.

Paul Doege has owned Recycled Records since 1980, and has often been cited locally for many music related stories in radio, TV and print.
