RENO, Nev. -- A long-time local athlete is hitting the streets for a good cause.
John Leeming is training for "Ride for Hope Coast to Coast," a charity which organizes cyclists with the goal of "riding towards an AIDS-free world."
Saturday, Leeming took his training regimnet to the public by doing 100 miles on a stationary bicycle. The event took place at a local coffee house on Pyramid and Eagle Canyon. Everyone who donated money toward Leeming's ride got free coffee.
Every year, "Ride for Hope Coast to Coast" raises funds and awareness for HIV and AIDS affected orphans in sub-Saharan Africa.
"It's an interesting intersection of my passions," Leeming says. He has been an athlete nearly all his life and a cyclist for about a decade. In that time, he has ridden for a number of charity events and organizations.
