RENO, NV - A life sentence was handed down for Guillermo Padilla-Martinez, who pleaded guilty to murdering Juan Cazares-Perez during an apparent road rage incident.
Cazares-Perez's sister told the judge: "when I close my eyes I see my brother Juan in front of me I will be emotionally impacted for months and years to come."
Padilla-Martinez said the shooting was impulsive and he is "sorry."
Police said Padilla-Martinez and Cazares Perez had gotten out of their vehicles and were arguing about whether Cazares-Perez was following too closely -- then, Cazares-Perez was shot by Padilla-Martinez. The shooting happened on Greenbrae Drive last year.
Cazares-Perez's fiance also testified. "I'm just heart-broken," she said. The two have a son together.
Padilla-Martinez was given an additional twenty-four to one-hundred ninety months behind bars. He will be eligible for parole on the life sentence in ten years.
