RENO, Nev. (AP) - A convicted sex offender has been sentenced to two life terms in prison for sexually assaulting an elderly Reno woman in April.

Washoe District Court Judge Patrick Flanagan ordered 54-year-old Richard Daniel Sharks to serve at least 32 years in prison before he can be considered for parole. The Reno Gazette-Journal reports the judge said on Monday it was his intention that Sharks die in prison.

Sharks claimed he had been high on methamphetamine and didn't remember the attack.

Sharks is a Tier 3 sex offender, considered as having the highest risk to commit more sex offenses. His past crimes date back to 1988 and include a 2001 conviction related to accosting a Sparks teenager on her way to school, dragging her into a laundry room and fondling her.
