Letter Carrier Food Drive is Saturday

RENO, Nev. (AP) - Letter carriers across northern Nevada will be
collecting food during their Saturday deliveries to help feed needy
families.

The annual Help Stamp Out Hunger drive is sponsored by the
National Association of Letter Carriers.

Last year the drive brought in 70 million pounds of food
nationwide. Northern Nevada post offices collected nearly 300,000
pounds.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports the Stamp Out Hunger event is the biggest food drive of the year for the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. Officials say the donations help bridge the gap between the fall and winter holiday drives and the summer months.

People wanting to donate should use a sturdy bag to leave
non-perishable, non-expired food items next to their mailbox before
the regular mail delivery time on Saturday.
