SPARKS, Nev. -- With only a few more shopping days left until Christmas, people are racing against the clock to get their last minute gifts and get them shipped in time.
"I always do my christmas shopping at the very last minute. I'm terrible!" Catherine Oaks, Director of Marketing at the Outlets at Legends said.
She's not the only one. Whether it's a busy schedule or the thrill people get from procrastination, it's still not too late to shop smart.
"Shop around, if you don't know what you're looking for, what you want to purchase, just try and look at different stores and then compare," Oaks said. "You're going to get ideas that you didn't have before."
Here is where some shoppers in Sparks start.
"I definitely hit the sales rack first then I got to what I think is the cutest."
"Well I think of one person and my goal is to imagine that person I'm looking for and I buy it."
"When I shop for my friends, I usually get them things that they normally wouldn't get themselves, either it's something they want or if it's too expensive."
Those who think women are hard to shop for, here are some hints from the ladies themselves:
"Look for a scarf, look for maybe a hat and gloves, just something that can be practical this time of year."
"My daughters love shoes so those are a great item."
Of course, it's hard to go wrong with a piece of jewelry, but if diamonds are a girl's best friend, then what do guys want? A few men gave their two cents on the matter.
"Anything like electronics like anything blue ray, DVDs."
Tools are also a popular favorite, but some prefer the classic gifts.
"I love socks and underwear."
Bigger isn't always better, especially if shoppers are on tight budgets.
"I would suggest getting a bunch of littler things...you know like buying a ring and a necklace or mini sized things like perfume," said one shopper.
"Baked goods are always welcomed."
Shoppers also suggested gift cards, magazine subscriptions and food baskets are good gift ideas. Sometimes, it pays off to wait. They also say some of the best deals are on Christmas Eve.
The general consensus is last minute shoppers should jot down a list of the people you're shopping for and what you want to get them, but remember it's the thought that counts.
Most stores understand the stress of the holidays so they will be extending their hours this weekend.
