RENO, NV - The man who shot a golfer at Lakeridge Golf Course last year pleaded guilty Thursday to battery with a deadly weapon and was sentenced to probation.
District Court Judge Jerome Polaha said probation isn't to exceed 60 months.
The shooting happened in October of 2012. A golfer was one of two playing the 16th hole when he was hit; he was treated and released from a hospital for minor wounds.
Police say one of the golfers accidentally hit 53-year-old Jeff Fleming's house on Wycliffe Circle with a golf ball, leading Fleming to fire a shotgun at the men. He then drove to an attorney's office, and was arrested shortly after. Police had a SWAT team at the scene for part of the afternoon before they realized Fleming was gone.
