INCLINE VILLAGE, NV - North Lake Fire Protection District investigators are looking for information about what started a small brush fire early Tuesday.

Crews responded to the fire at 3:17AM at 400 Fairview Blvd., quickly extinguishing the fire and containing it to approximately ½ acre. The cause hasn't been determined. If anyone has information regarding this incident, please contact Assistant Fire Marshal Mark Regan at 775-461-6200.

Firefighters say the next door neighbor’s defensible space supported the suppression efforts with proper vegetation clearance and management.

The Fire District would also like to remind people that fireworks are illegal to possess or discharge on any US Forest Service property in the Tahoe Basin and elsewhere. This includes all consumer fireworks (fireworks purchased by individuals) known as “safe and sane” brought in from out of state. Washoe County, Douglas County and Carson City provide for civil and criminal penalties for possession and/or use of fireworks.

Remember to use extra caution this 4th of July holiday. Please extinguish cigarettes in proper designated receptacles and leave the fireworks to the professionals. Incline Village/Crystal Bay fireworks launched off-shore from Incline Beach can be widely viewed from many areas of the community in the evening on Thursday, July 4th. Remember, please be fire-safe.
