SPARKS, Nev. (AP) - A half dozen new construction projects are under way at the biggest shopping center in Sparks.
An IMAX theater, T.J. Maxx and Wal-Mart are among the new businesses in the works at the Outlets at Legends on Interstate 80 east of the Sparks Marina. They've been on the drawing board for some time but were put on hold during the recession.
The Kansas-based developer, RED Development LLC, went through a refinancing deal earlier this summer after defaulting on a $142 million construction loan.
RED Vice President Robyn Young says it freed up more than $30 million in investments, including development of more than 300,000 square feet of new retail space.
She says it's an important turning point for the 148-acre shopping center that already has 50 stores.
