Glenbrook, NV - The identities of the two people involved in a crash on US 50 in Douglas County have been released.

Thursday, July 10 at about 9:45 am, the Nevada Highway Patrol responded to an accident that involved a bicyclist and a 2004 Kenworth tractor truck and trailer.

48-year-old Clarence M. Aldridge of Bakersfield, CA was headed eastbound on US 50 in the tunnel at Cave Rock when he was hit on his bicycle from behind by the truck driven by 39-year-old Richard J. Pettay of Carson City.

Aldridge was thrown from the bicycle inside the tunnel and then collided with the truck. Pettay exited the tunnel and stopped his truck.

Aldridge was stabilized by EMT’s and was later transported by Care Flight to Renown Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

There is not a bike lane inside the tunnel and the speed limit is 35 miles per hour. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor.

Witnesses or anyone else with more information can reach out to NHP Trooper Chris Kelly at (775) 689-4661 or ckelly@dps.state.nv.us.

The condition of Mr. Aldridge is unknown at this time and no charges have been filed.
