RENO,NV - Another closure is planned as part of the I-80 re-paving project. The Nevada Department of Transportation announced the downtown Reno exit will be closed to westbound traffic starting at 8 p.m. on Friday. The closure will remain in-effect until 5 a.m. Monday.
The closure also comes as the Nevada Department of Transportation reminds drivers to slow down and be cautious in contruction areas.
"Collisions cause tie up in traffic and that ultimately costs in some cases lives as well as money," Nevada Highway Patrol Chief Troy Abney said.
The re-paving project will continue all summer. However, a deputy project manager said the project is roughly three weeks ahead of schedule.
"I use it for work so I have to leave a bit early," one driver said of the construction delays.
NDOT advises drivers to use the Wells or Keystone offramps during this weekend's closure.
