I-80 Eastbound Fourth Street Off-Ramp Closed

RENO, Nev. –The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) and Granite Construction will complete the second phase of the traffic switch on I-80 between Wells Avenue and Fourth Street on Monday night, March 12, 2012 around 10 pm, weather permitting.

I-80 traffic will be in the new westbound lanes between Keystone Avenue and Fourth Street and reduced to two lanes in each direction. The I-80 eastbound Wells Avenue on and off-ramps; the eastbound Fourth Street off-ramp; and the westbound Fourth Street on-ramp will be closed 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week for approximately five months.

To help drivers navigate the construction the design-build team recommends the following driver tips: Pay Attention. There are new lane configurations between Keystone Avenue and Fourth Street. Watch for merging traffic.

Through Traffic Stay Left.

Motorists driving east or west on I-80 should stay in the left lane.

Slow Down.

The speed limit is 55 MPH and fines are doubled in work zones. NHP will be strictly enforcing the speed limit.

-I-80 eastbound Wells Ave. on-ramp closure use Fourth St. on-rampMotorists are encouraged to take Wells Ave. south to Sixth St. and east to Fourth St.
-I-80 eastbound Wells Ave. off-ramp closure use Virginia St. off-ramp.Motorists are encouraged to use the Sierra St. exit south to Sixth St.
-I-80 eastbound Fourth St. off-ramp.Motorists are encouraged to take I-80 east to US 395 south; exit Second St. west to Kietzke Ln.; Kietzke Ln. north to Fourth St. Fourth St.
-I-80 eastbound off-ramp alternate route from NB US 395.Motorists are encouraged to take NB US 395 north to I-80 east; to Rock Blvd. north to Prater Way/ Fourth St. Fourth St.
-I-80 westbound on-ramp closures use Wells Ave. on-rampMotorists are encouraged to take Fourth St. west to Sixth St. and north to Wells Avenue.

The estimated $72 million I-80 Design-Build Project includes pavement rehabilitation on approximately 40-year-old concrete between Keystone Avenue and Fourth Street, as well as installing Intelligent Transportation System (ITS), signing and striping, drainage and ramp improvements and landscaping and aesthetics enhancements on I-80 between Robb Drive and Vista Boulevard.
