--------------------------
RENO, Nev. -- The CalTrans website reports Interstate 80 is closed from the California-Nevada state line all the way to Applegate. The website states the reason is not the weather directly, but rather spin-outs and accidents... which, of course, are likely due to the slick, snowy road.
Chains are mandatory except on 4-wheel drive vehicles with snow tires on all four wheels. That requirement is in force from the state line to three miles east of Gold Run.
Farther into California, a high wind advisory is in effect for the Yolo Causeway and the Bryte Bend Bridge west of Sacramento.
