Human Remains Found Near Verdi ID'd as Missing Reno Man

RENO, NV - Skeletal remains found by hikers in May 2011 near Verdi are a man missing for 4 years.

On May 14, 2011 the Sierra County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office
received a report from the Washoe County, Nevada, Sheriff’s Office that hikers found skeletal human remains in rural eastern Sierra County, five miles northwest of Verdi near Crystal Peak.

DNA testing confirmed the bones belong to Reno man, 41-year-old Dana Lee Talucci, who was reported missing on October 11, 2008.

Found with the bones was various personal property in various conditions of disintegration. Additionally, there was a semi-automatic pistol recovered which was traced back to Talucci.

Several more detailed searches of the area including the use of specially trained dogs were completed.

The cause and manner of death are still pending investigation, and remain undetermined absent additional information.

Dana Talucci's brother Dean killed himself in 2008. He set his house on fire on Rhode Island Drive, then killed himself.

The two had lived together in the home for their entire lives.

Investigators never learned why Dean committed suicide. They found unpaid bills in the front yard, and gasoline cans, but no note.
