Reno, Nev. Hot August Nights is back in town. The Peppermill hosted the official kick off party Monday. Hundreds of cars filled the parking lot while people walked around enjoying live music, food, and of course, beautiful cars.
Most participants at Hot August Nights can trace the beginning of their love for cars back to their youth.
"I've been into cars since high school," Leroy Lease of Sparks said. "I love buying cars and tinkering with them, and working on them. It's just always been fun for me."
Lease bought his '31 Ford Model A during Hot August Nights eleven years ago. When he bought the car, he says it was completely broken down. It took him three years to finish the work.
"I did 100 percent of the work myself. I love old cars, I'm into cars. if I bleed it's 10-40," Lease said.
And for some, this event brings a sense of nostalgia.
"It goes back to the time in your youth when you're young and foolish and do all kinds of crazy things," David Lee of Sparks said.
Hot August Nights is a chance for classic car lovers to proudly display their hard work. Many owners spending hundreds of hours making sure their cars are perfect.
"It's kind of three dimensional art," Bruce Schoggen of Reno said. "Art in motion if you will."
