RENO, Nev. (AP) - A homeless woman who robbed a Reno bank and
then waited for police has been sentenced to four years in prison.
U.S. District Judge Robert C. Jones said he didn't want to reward 61-year-old Lynna Anderson for the crime - her fourth bank robbery since 1989 - by providing her government lodging and medical care.
But Jones on Monday said Anderson had to be punished. Besides prison, he fined her $2,000.
Prosecutors say Anderson walked into a Bank of America branch last year and handed threatening notes to clerks. Afterward, she walked across the street, sat on a bench and waited for police.
Authorities say she told officers she was tired of living on the street, and handed over the bank bag with $12,200.
