Home Invasion, Domestic Battery Rouse Sparks Neighborhood

SPARKS, Nev. -- An early morning fight between ex's roused a neighborhood in Sparks Sunday morning.

Just after 8am, Sparks Police got a 911 call from a woman in the 800 block of Woodberry Drive. She was screaming that a man had broken into the home and was going to kill her. The 911 dispatcher could hear a man yelling and sounds that could have been from a beating. The woman said the man had a gun.

Officers got there quickly and found a man, 31-year-old Brandon Smith of Reno, on the back patio. He was arrested. No gun was found.

During the investigation, officers learned that the man and woman had a prior dating relationship and overnight had been involved in a fight at a casino. The woman had taken a cab home and woke up when the man broke into her home.

Smith was arrested for home invasion and domestic battery. The victim complained of a minor head injury but refused medical treatment.

Sparks Police ask that anyone with more information, including anyone who saw Smith in the area, to call them at (775) 353-2225.
