Carson City, NV - High school students interested in engineering worked for months on creating robots and this weekend, they'll get a chance to show them off.

The Teen Youth Robotics Competition takes place at Carson High School's big gym on Saturday. On Friday, students were setting up and doing last-minute preps on their creations.

Saturday's competition will draw teams of students from around the West Coast region.

The winning team goes on to the National Championships in Missouri, but students at Carson High School say - just putting their robot together as a team was rewarding enough.

"The team as a whole we all got along really well," says Ryan Schmid, a Carson High School senior. "When we were building it, we were all making jokes, laughing, just having a good time, not like boring sitting over a desk."

"I just love robots and computers," says Porfiro Jaugerui, a Carson High School sophomore. "And on top of that, it was a great education tool to learn how to program."

Saturday's competition takes place at Carson High School's big gym from 10am until 5pm. It is open to the public.
