RENO, NV - The Washoe Health Department will have its third seasonal aerial mosquito larvicide treatment this Wednesday beginning at 6:00 a.m.

Helicopters will begin spraying at 6:00 a.m. and will continue throughout the early morning.

The mosquito larvicide will be taking place in Stead, Kiley Ranch, Wingfield Springs, Rosewood Lakes wetlands, South Meadows, Bella Vista and Damonte Ranch.

The spray will target immature mosquitoes to prevent them from growing into adult mosquitoes and spreading the West Nile Virus.

The helicopter spray will cover 800 - 900 acres and will consist of Altosid pellets, a biological product applied to mosquito larvae in standing water.
