CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - A group is moving ahead with plans to
build a memorial on the Capitol grounds in Carson City honoring
Nevada's fallen soldiers.
The Nevada Appeal reports the group formed by the Gold Star
Families of Nevada met Saturday to go over design plans for the
proposed State of Nevada War Memorial.
The group, which includes military, law enforcement and
government representatives, hopes to place the monument behind the Capitol building south of the Veterans Memorial Plaza.
Plans include a Walk of Remembrance, a Gold Star Monument with a
fallen-soldier statue and a Wall of Sacrifice for Nevada's fallen
A cost for the project has not yet been estimated.
The state Department of Veterans Affairs would establish the
criteria for who would be entitled to be listed.
