LAS VEGAS (AP) - Republican Gov. Brian Sandoval says he has helped set Nevada on a better course by creating a cabinet agency
focused on economic development.
Sandoval says the agency is a big step, but Nevada businesses
need to do more to create a nimble economy that fosters entrepreneurship.
The remarks came Thursday during the Nevada Development
Authority's annual gathering in Las Vegas.
More than 800 people attended the luncheon at the Bellagio casino on the Las Vegas Strip where Sandoval also heralded businesses that relocated or expanded in southern Nevada last year.
Sandoval has said that economic development is his top concern.
He recently named Steve Hill as the state's economic director. Hill is a former vice president of CalPortland, a concrete supplier, and was also a member of Sandoval's transition team.
