Girl Scouts to Host ‘Wrapped in Warmth’ Blanket Drive Oct. 22

(Reno, Nev.) – In anticipation of another frigid Nevada winter, the Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada/Peavine Foothills Service Unit’s will host a “Wrapped in Warmth” drive-through donation event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 22.

Girl Scouts volunteers will be collecting contributions of new and gently used blankets and twin-size bed linens in front of the Volunteers of America Family Shelter on the Community Assistance Center campus, 335 Record St., Reno.

The drive, a “Make a Difference Day” service project event, will benefit residents of not only the Family Shelter, but the men’s and women’s shelters as well.

“Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada is excited to partner with Volunteers of America for the Make a Difference Day blanket drive,” said troop leader Shelly Nye. “Today, and every day, it’s important that we all work together to ensure that individuals and families in our community have what they need to be safe and warm. This blanket drive gives our girls a really meaningful way to take action in their community and do their part to make a difference.”

Donation receipts will be available for all who make a contribution.
