RENO, NV - Game wardens are seeking information about a mule deer buck that was shot and killed by a shotgun blast to the face in the evening hours of July 1 on Peavine Mountain. Operation Game Thief (OGT) is offering a $500 reward to help catch the shooter.
Game wardens discovered the completely intact animal ten yards off Peavine Road approximately half way up the mountain in the afternoon of July 2. The entire carcass was left to rot, which is another crime in itself.
"This is a disturbing case of a thrill killing,” said Rob Buonamici, chief game warden with NDOW. “Not only did this person kill the animal illegally, he or she also left the entire animal to waste.”
As is often the case, OGT has stepped up to offer a reward in hopes of generating tips to solve the case. Big game poaching in Nevada is a felony crime. To report wildlife crime, sportsmen and members of the public can call OGT at (800) 992-3030.
