We have heavy snow in the Sierra today above 8000' with a lot of rain down to the valley floor. Gusty conditions will also continue for the next several days.

Tonight and Saturday will be dry in Reno. The next wet and warm storm moves in Saturday night into Sunday. Rain on the fresh snow up to 10,000' will cause flooding for local streams and creeks in the Tahoe Basin. Reno/Sparks also has a very good chance for flooding.

The Truckee River at Vista is forecast to reach 19.3 Feet. This is what happens at 19 Feet....

...Moderate flooding U.S. Highway 395 at Reno to Nixon, including Truckee meadows and sparks. Serious lowland flooding vista to Nixon. Transportation begins to be affected in eastern Truckee meadows, Greg street south to mill street flooded from GSR east to McCarran. Below McCarran, Glendale avenue to Pembroke drive flooded. GSR RV park flooded. Sparks industrial area under about 4 feet of water, some buildings flood.
