CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Reno attorney Scott Freeman has been
appointed to the Washoe District Court bench.

Freeman was appointed Monday by Gov. Brian Sandoval to serve in
Department 9. He replaces District Judge Robert Perry, who died in
December.

A longtime defense lawyer, the 54-year-old Freeman was the only
applicant to apply for the appointment.

He must win election in November to serve out the rest of Perry's unexpired term, which ends in January 2015.

Attorney Calvin Dunlap also filed for election to the seat but did not apply for appointment.
