RENO - One flight from San Francisco has been canceled at Reno-Tahoe International Airport because of weather (United Flight 6220).
In a phone call with Public Affairs Manager Brian Kulpin, he said that flights have been canceled from San Francisco for the past few days because of weather in the Bay Area.
However, because of the Truckee Meadows forecast throughout the next few days, Reno-Tahoe airport officials held an emergency meeting Thursday. The airport did flood in 1997, and while waters came close in 2005, it did not flood back then, Kulpin said.
"We train for these types of things, practice for these types of things," Kulpin said, "but you can't control mother nature."
Kulpin continued to say the airport staff is as ready as they ever can be.
Throughout the next several days he suggests if you have friends or loved ones flying into Reno, or flying out of the airport, to check your individual airlines websites for flight status.
