RENO, NV - A flat tire late Wednesday morning causes a car to roll into a field off US 395 in Washoe Valley.
Nevada Highway Patrol troopers following the driver, 24-year-old Joseph A. Thompson-Rettagliata of Carson City, say they saw it all happen.
Thompson-Rettagliata was heading south on US 395 when his 1986 Subaru wagon popped a rear tire just south of the Bellevue exit.
Instead of slowing down and pulling over, the driver "over-corrected," according to NHP, and ended up upside down in the field when he turned his car sharply toward the right-hand shoulder of the busy highway.
Thompson-Rettagliata was wearing a seat belt and sustained an injury to his arm and hand. He was transported from the scene and taken to Carson-Tahoe Hospital via ground ambulance.
Traffic was not affected by the accident.
NHP does not believe speed or alcohol are a factor in this incident.
