RENO, Nev. (AP) - Authorities say five drivers were arrested on
suspicion of drunken driving on Super Bowl Sunday during a DUI
checkpoint on the Pyramid Highway.
About 2,700 vehicles passed through the checkpoint and 42 field
sobriety tests were administered.
Along with the 5 DUI arrests, one person was arrested for a
parole violation and one for driving on a revoked drivers' license.
Citations were issued for other infractions, such as no proof of
insurance, not wearing seat belts, and having expired
Authorities say the checkpoint was funded with a state grant and
was a multi-agency effort involving 41 northern Nevada officers
from various agencies.
