The first New Year baby born in the Reno-Sparks area was born at Saint Mary

RENO, NV - The first New Year baby born in the Reno-Sparks area was born at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center at 12:03 a.m. on New Year's day.

According to an official with Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center, a 21-inch long, 7-pound-5-ounce baby boy was born to Jenny Sofa and Julio Mendoza. The official says it is their first child.

The baby was born healthy. His name has not yet been released.
