RENO, NV - Firefighters say the Pinehaven fire in the Caughlin Ranch area burned 206 acres and is contained as of Wednesday night.

The fire started about 12:20PM Monday. It never threatened structures and no one was hurt.

The Washoe County Sheriff's Office says the fire started as a police chase was ending. That chase started near South Virginia and Neil Road, where a deputy found an SUV with stolen plates. The driver ran red lights and signs and got up to 60 miles per hour, even driving the wrong direction on at least one street. Deputies believe the suspect is local or knows the area well, because of how he navigated the area. He ended up in the Pinehaven area, jumping out of his SUV, which rolled down a ravine, catching fire and starting the brush fire.

The driver is still on the loose. Deputies say he is white, about 5'10" and 150 pounds, with blondish hair, short in the front and long in the back. He was wearing a white tank top and khakis. If you have information that leads to him, please call 785-WCSO or Secret Witness at 322-4900.
