CARSON CITY, NV - One person is in critical condition after a fight outside a Carson City bar turned into a shootout early Saturday morning.
Carson City deputies responded to a report of a fight at Toads Bar at the corner of William and Stewart Streets just after 4:00 a.m. Once they arrived, one person involved in the fight pulled out a gun and shot another person fighting.
Deputies fired at the shooter, but were unable to stop him from fleeing the area. Fifteen others were detained.
The victim of the shooting was treated and care-flighted to Renown with life threatening injuries. His name and medical condition are not currently being released.
Two hours after the shooting, Carson City police was contacted by Renown, saying there was a second gunshot victim in the Emergency Room. This person matched witness descriptions of the shooter at the bar. He was later identified as 21-year-old Emanuel Moreno, who has known gang affiliations.
Moreno had an arrest warrant out for Failing to Appear in Court, and will be taken into custody on that charge following surgery on his hand. He has pending charges of Battery with a Deadly Weapon with Substantial Bodily Harm and Attempted Murder.
Police controlled a large area around the scene as evidence was scattered all over, including a blood trail and clothes. A 38 caliber revolver was found several feet from where the blood trail related to officers' shots began.
Sheriff Ken Furlong has not released the name of the deputy who fired at the shooter. He or she is expected to return to normal duties soon, despite the pending shooting investigation.
