Fernley Man Arrested for Illegal Drug and Gun Possession

FERNLEY, Nev. - A Fernley man has been arrested for possession of illegal drugs and guns.

The arrest of Matthew Mcarther, 36, was made following a two month long investigation into the possession of stolen firearms on a residence in Fernley, NV.

During the execution of a search warrant deputies recovered 3.8 pounds of marijuana, 7.6 grams of methamphetamine, illegal prescription pills and a firearm.

Investigators tell us the front bedroom of the residence was acting as a narcotic distribution center, where Mcarthur was selling methamphetamine, marijuana and illegal pills from his bedroom window.

A surveillance system in Mcarthur’s bedroom was wired into a 50 inch flat screen television; it monitored the front of the residence, and the window where Mcarthur sold controlled substances from.

Mcarthur was booked into the Lyon County Jail on $115,000 for the following charges:

-Trafficking methamphetamine Level I
-Possession of a controlled substance for sales
-Possession of marijuana over one ounce
-Own or possess a gun by unauthorized person
