RENO, Nev. -- The leader of the Nevada Catholic Conference has stepped down. According to the National Catholic Reporter (NCR), John Cracchiolo resigned sometime in the past few days.
Cracchiolo's official title is Executive Director of the Nevada Catholic Conference, and part of his job description includes representing the concerns of Nevada Catholics at the state capitol.
The Nevada State Legislature website lists Cracchiolo in the section for paid lobbyists.
The resignation comes after the NCR asked Reno and Las Vegas Dioceses officials about a felony plea deal Cracchiolo accepted in 2009.
According to the newspaper, the charges involved plans to defraud investors of a publicly-traded medical device company based in California.
