Reno, NV - Sunday night around 8:30, Reno police found a man with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The shooting happened in the Neil and Moana area of Reno. The victim, Lucas Walters, was originally reporting he was the victim of a shooting by another person. After investigation, RPD found several differences in his story, plus a witness to the shooting said Walters was manipulating a semi-automatic firearm when the gun misfired and struck Walters in the leg.
A bullet casing was also found in the Walters residence on Evelyn Drive. RPD says someone else removed the gun from the residence. But that person led police to the gun, plus the location of a second loaded gun and 28g of meth, prescription pills, psychedic mushrooms, and hashish. RPD says Walters claimed ownership of all items involved.
Walters, who is a convicted felon, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released. He was booked into the county jail and charged with two counts of being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm, trafficking methamphetamine, sale of methamphetamine, possession of mushrooms, pills and marijuana.
