CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - A watchdog group gives Nevada Senate candidate Shelley Berkley a "dishonorable mention" in its report on corrupt members of Congress.

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington on Wednesday cited a House Ethics Committee investigation into allegations the seven-term congresswoman used her position to benefit her family's financial interests.

The Nevada Republican Party filed a complaint last year saying Berkley's efforts to keep a kidney transplant program open in Las Vegas constituted a conflict of interest. Her husband is a managing partner of a company that contracted with the hospital to provide kidney care.

Berkley says other members of the delegation also supported the program to benefit Nevadans.

"It's unfortunate that CREW made this designation without having their facts straight. As it has been widely reported for months, UMC officials have stated that the contract would not have been impacted even if the transplant program had been terminated. The only reason Congresswoman Berkley joined Rep. Dean Heller to save the state’s only kidney transplant program was because 200 Nevada patients were waiting for lifesaving treatment."
