Election regulations sought by the secretary of state and criticized by some Nevada Republicans are up for possible final approval by a legislative panel.

At earlier public hearings, critics argued the election regulations would make it easier for non-U.S. citizens to vote by extending poll hours for some tardy voters and allowing inactive voters to cast ballots without restrictions.
State election officials have denied the claims.
Another provision would require the secretary of state to verify all county election results for major races and decide when the data is made public.
Regulations on allowable deductions from net proceeds taxes paid
by mining companies on minerals will also be considered.
