RENO, NV - Dude the dog won't be going back to his home, however, instead, he is dad to “Cold Nose Kennels.”
That's the plea bargain reached by the Washoe County District Attorney's Office and Dude's owner, Sally Christensen.
Christensen has four violations, involving Dude, who was declared “dangerous” by Justice Court in 2011.
Under the plea agreement, Dude will head to the new home, as Christensen faces fines and boarding fees for Dude totaling nearly $2,000.
"Bittersweet ending. Although I don't get to keep my dog, he is not going to be euthanized. He will be at the Cold Nose Kennels and be evaluated and be adopted out to a loving family," says Christensen.
Christensen says she and her grandchildren will be allowed to visit Dude.
Cold Nose Kennel owners say they will pick up Dude at Animal Services Tuesday.
The kennel is located in Mound House in Lyon County.
