RENO, Nev. -- The downtown Reno Post Office building officially belongs to a new owner as of Friday afternoon, and office operations will soon be moving.
The company 50 South Virginia, LLC paid all the closing costs for purchase of the building. Developer Bernie Carter, who is also running for City Council, owns the company.
Ownership of the building - which is across from the Pioneer Theater - went from Post Office to the City to Carter in quick succession.
The company's total cost was $1.25 million. Carter is considering retail and restaurants as possible occupancy for the building.
The Post Office is moving to the parking garage building on Sierra Street. Post Office officials say customers who have boxes there will be given plenty of warning before the move.
