RENO, NV - Friday, December 28 was the last day of operation for Reno's downtown post office, which had been open 78 years.

Developers will redesign the building to accomodate office and retail space. They bought it for $1.25M from the Reno Redevelopment Agency, which had just bought it from the federal government for the same price.

The new downtown location at 135 North Sierra Street #1A, next to Silver Peak restaurant, opens Monday, December 31. People with post office boxes at the old location will have the same numbered boxes at the new location, and have already been given new keys, according to postal officials.
