DOUGLAS COUNTY, NV--Several Northern Nevada agencies are actively searching parts of Douglas County for a missing 45-year-old man.
Michael McDonald has been missing since Monday evening. Officials describe the man as being American Indian, 5'10" and weighs about 230 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes.
"It's unusual for him to be gone this long without making contact," said Richard Varner, Chief of Police of the Washoe Tribe Police Department. "We don't know if he got stuck while cutting wood, or if he's injured, but his family says it's out of the ordinary."
McDonald is believed to be driving a 1986 dark blue GMC truck with Nevada license plates 989-NZB. Varner describes the truck as being a woodcutting truck with a possible rack on the side.
Officials say the man frequently cuts wood in the Pine Nut Allotments, south of Gardnerville.
Right now, Douglas County, Washoe County, the RAVEN helicopter, as well as the Washoe Police are searching an area south of Gardnerville near Leviathan Mine Road.
"He was last seen Monday the 30th," said Varner. "The family reported him missing yesterday and we immediately began the search. Douglas County was called in to assist last night."
