RENO, Nev. -- Some unfortunate dogs got the chance to have fun in the sun and water today at the Idlewild Pool. The SPCA of Northern Nevada and Reno's Parks and Recreation department teamed up for the annual Dog Daze.

SPCA workers and volunteers took dogs from the shelter to the pool for swimming and socializing. Dog owners in the community were invited to bring their dogs to swim with the shelter pups.

The SPCA also had dogs available for adoption at the event. The first 200 people to arrive got dog goodie bags, and everyone got free U-Swirl frozen yogurt.

The event is free for the public and goes until 3pm at the chlorine-free kiddie pool at 1805 Idlewild Drive in Reno.

It is sponsored by U-Swirl, Scraps, Jenn Findley Photography, Natural Paws, and Terri Jay Pet Psychic.
