Deputy City Attorney Running for Top Job

RENO, NV - Tracy Chase, Chief Deputy Reno City Attorney, is announcing her candidacy to replace retiring Reno City Attorney John Kadlic, who is endorsing Chase as his successor.

Kadlic says, “Tracy has my full support because of her qualifications to run all three divisions of this office. She is experienced in municipal, civil and criminal law. I know she will serve the public with integrity and provide independent and quality legal advice to the city.”

According to a news release, Chase has practiced in the public and private sectors. She served as a Washoe County prosecutor in the District Attorney’s Office and as a partner at Hale, Lane, Peek, Dennison and Howard (now Holland & Hart). In 1998, Chase began her career in the Reno City Attorney’s office and was promoted up the ranks to Chief Deputy. She represents the City Council, City Manager, Civil Service Commission, and various City departments.

She also supervises staff and administers the City Attorney’s budget. She says under her direction, the office has operated under budget for the past 8 years.

Chase’s community service includes 11 years as a Girl Scout troop leader and two-term Board Chair for the Great Basin MS Society. She is a member of Northern Nevada Women Lawyers, Reno Rotary Club, Western Industrial Nevada (WIN) and community volunteer for the school district and local and regional youth swim events. She received the 2008 Women of Achievement Award, several City of Reno Innovation Awards, City of Reno Team Award, and Outstanding Service Awards from the Girls Scouts of Northern Nevada.
